Butterfly

Butterfly is a sweet floral from the Qatari house Al-Jazeera Perfumes, composed by Sophie Labbé and released in 2019. People describe it as gourmand first, floral second, with a minority also finding it musky, ambery or citrusy. It is worn by anyone.

The notes are not listed in stages, but they fall into clear groups. On the fruity side there is red apple and blackcurrant with a touch of bergamot, which lend a crisp, tart brightness. The sweet side is openly confectionery: candies and vanilla, with heliotrope adding its almondy, powdery softness. Jasmine and orris root give the floral centre, the orris cool and powdery against the jasmine's warmth, and amberwood underpins everything with a dry, ambery wood.

Taken together it reads as a sugared floral with a fresh fruit top, better suited to those who enjoy sweetness than to anyone after a dry or green scent.
