Onyx, from the Qatari house Al-Jazeera Perfumes and released in 2016, is a rose and oud fragrance made to be worn by anyone. Almost everyone describes it as floral, two thirds also call it woody, and about a third find it sweet or amber-like.
The notes come as one list. Bulgarian rose and rose are the heart of the scent, full and slightly jammy, with lily adding a lighter white-floral freshness. Agarwood brings the dark, resinous woodiness that defines the drydown, and sandalwood softens it with a creamy texture. Walnut is an unusual touch, adding a dry, nutty warmth, while vanilla and ambergris round out the base with sweetness and a mineral glow.
There are no community reports yet on longevity, projection or preferred season. In character it is a classic Middle Eastern rose-oud pairing, best in cooler weather and in the evening, and it is sold as a single bottle size.
