Oud Superfluide from the French house Les EAUX Primordiales, composed by Arnaud Poulain in 2019, is a sweet, resinous oud. Wood is what everyone notices, and about half also describe it as spicy, sweet, resinous and citrusy.
Bitter orange opens it with a bright, slightly sharp lift, and saffron adds a warm, dry, faintly leathery spice. Agarwood is the core, dark and resinous, but it is softened on all sides: guaiac wood brings a smoky, slightly sweet dryness, benzoin a warm, balsamic resin, and vanilla a smooth sweetness. A sesame note adds an unusual nutty, toasted quality that gives the scent its character.
It is worn by anyone and suits autumn and winter and the evening, for someone who likes oud made smooth and sweet rather than raw, with a toasted, nutty twist.
