Gershwin

A spiced citrus from the Italian house Maria Candida Gentile, Gershwin was composed by the founder herself and released in 2009. Citrus is what everyone notices first; three quarters of those who describe it also call it spicy, with woody, fresh and amber facets mentioned by a minority.

It opens on a sharp, bitter burst of grapefruit, Amalfi lemon and bitter orange, more peel than juice. Clove and pepper arrive quickly and give the citrus a warm, almost crackling edge, while a thread of incense adds a smoky, church-like dryness that keeps it from being a simple cologne. Water lily brings a cool, watery softness in the middle, and sandalwood and sycamore settle it onto a smooth, slightly milky wood.

Gershwin is worn by anyone. The contrast of cold citrus and hot spice gives it character beyond a summer refresher, so it suits daytime in any season when you want something bright but not sweet.
