Sicilian Leather

Sicilian Leather is a woody citrus from Memo Paris, released in 2021. Woody is the word everyone agrees on, most also find it citrusy, a good number call it spicy, and a minority notice green, amber and leather, which says something: despite the name, the leather is a supporting player rather than the lead.

The notes are listed together. Bergamot, lemon, lime and bitter orange give a sharp, sunlit opening, with cardamom and coriander adding a cool, aromatic spice. Violet leaf brings a crisp green note, and balsam fir a resinous, forest-like freshness. The woody body is built from cedar, guaiac wood and akigalawood, dry and faintly smoky, with patchouli adding a little earth. Leather sits underneath, soft and suede-like rather than tarry.
