Sherwood, from Memo Paris in 2022, was composed by Juliette Karagueuzoglou. Spicy and floral are the words everyone uses for it, about two thirds also call it woody, and a third find it sweet.
The notes are listed together rather than in stages. Damask rose is the flower at the centre, full and slightly jammy, with orange blossom adding a brighter, sunnier floral tone and blackcurrant a tart, green fruitiness. Pink pepper, carrot seeds and a general spices accord give it the spicy character people report, the carrot seed in particular adding a dry, earthy, slightly iris-like warmth. Oak and sandalwood supply the wood, the oak dry and faintly toasted, the sandalwood creamy, and cashmeran wraps everything in a soft, warm, musky-woody haze that gives the sweet edge.
It is worn by anyone. The overall impression is a rose set in a forest rather than a garden, spiced and woody rather than fresh.
