Ani X is Nishane's 2023 reworking of Ani, again composed by Cécile Zarokian and worn by anyone. Everyone who describes it calls it woody, most find it spicy and sweet, and about half notice freshness, herbs and citrus, which marks the main change from the original.
The opening is brighter and cooler: lemon, bergamot and melon with water notes, plus the familiar ginger, pink pepper and cardamom. The heart keeps rose and blackcurrant but adds green apple, lavender and sage, so the middle is more aromatic and crisp than Ani's. The base is woody rather than vanillic in emphasis, with cashmere wood, sandalwood and cedar leading, and ambergris, white musk and vanilla providing warmth beneath.
Most wearers find it long lasting. Projection is reported as strong by most people and moderate by a third. Season votes are spread, with autumn and spring slightly ahead, and it is worn equally by day and night. That makes it the more versatile, fresher sibling, for someone who liked Ani's spice but wanted it lighter and greener.
