Afrika Olifant, released by Nishane in 2015 and composed by Jorge Lee, is a dark, resinous leather fragrance. Resin leads, leather is strong, and woody, musky and amber notes add depth.
The opening is smoky and balsamic: myrrh and frankincense give a resinous, incense-like warmth, ambergris a salty, skin-like glow and labdanum a sticky, ambery richness. The heart is animalic and dark, with civet adding a warm, musky depth, leather a supple smokiness, oud a dark woodiness and castoreum a leathery, slightly sweet warmth. The base is synthetic civet and musk, a soft, sensual and skin-like finish.
Most wearers report it as long lasting, many far longer, and the sillage is mostly strong. It is voted equally for winter and autumn and favours evening wear. It suits cold nights and anyone who loves dark, animalic leather and incense, best applied sparingly. It is worn by anyone.
