The Collection Courageous Rose, a 2022 release from the German house Hugo Boss composed by Michel Almairac and Steve Guo, is a woody fragrance for men with strong spicy, floral and amber accords and lighter resinous and citrus touches.

Bergamot gives a brief, bright opening before saffron and nutmeg bring a warm, slightly leathery spice. Rose sits at the centre, rich and velvety, with geranium adding a fresher, minty-rosy tone. The base is smoky and dry: frankincense and incense give a cool, resinous haze, papyrus a dry, smoky woodiness, and patchouli and sandalwood an earthy and creamy depth.
