Poison, Dior's 1985 fragrance for women by Edouard Fléchier and Maurice Roger, is floral at its core; most wearers also call it woody, and spicy, gourmand and amber sides are noticed by more than half, musky by a good number.
The opening is dark and fruity: plum and wild berries give a thick, jammy sweetness, anise a cool liquorice spice, coriander a dry herbal edge, and Brazilian rosewood a soft floral wood. The heart is dense: tuberose, jasmine, rose, carnation and orange flower for a heady white-floral weight, with cinnamon, incense, opoponax and white honey adding spice, smoke and a thick golden sweetness. The base of vanilla, heliotrope, sandalwood, Virginia cedar, vetiver, musk and amber is warm, powdery and long.
Nearly two fifths of wearers say it lasts indefinitely and as many call it long lasting. Sillage is strong for half and enormous for a third. It is voted for winter and autumn and three quarters of the time for night.
