Bois d'Argent by Dior, released in 2018 and composed by Annick Menardo, is a soft woody scent with honeyed, ambery warmth. It is worn by anyone; wood leads, with gourmand and amber facets strong behind and lighter musky, floral and resinous notes.
The opening is cool and refined: juniper berries bring a gin-like freshness, cypress a green, resinous woodiness and iris a powdery, silvery softness. The heart pairs patchouli with myrrh, adding an earthy depth and a soft, slightly bitter resinous smoke. In the base, honey, vanilla and amber give a warm, gentle sweetness, while leather, musk, resins and woody notes create a smooth, skin-like finish.
People report long longevity in many cases, though a minority find it very weak, and the trail is moderate to intimate. It is voted for autumn and spring, mainly by day. It suits office wear, smart-casual days and mild weather, for someone who likes a quietly elegant woody-iris scent.
