Shahzada

Shahzada is a rich woody scent with sweet, floral and citrus layers, made by Tola, released in 2013 and composed by Dhaher Bin Dhaher. Everyone who describes it calls it woody; most also find it gourmand and floral, and more than half notice a citrus side.

Grapefruit, orange and lime give the opening a bright, zesty lift, with raspberry and plum adding a jammy fruitiness. Rose and jasmine form the floral heart, sweetened by honey and warmed by frankincense, which brings a dry, church-like smokiness. The base is dense and long-wearing: agarwood and guaiac wood give a dark, resinous depth, sandalwood and cedar add creaminess and structure, and vanilla with ambergris rounds it into a warm, slightly salty finish.

Shahzada is worn by anyone. Its weight and sweetness suit autumn and winter evenings and special occasions, and it will appeal to someone who likes traditional oud-and-rose compositions with a generous fruity side.
