Oudrising

Oudrising by Montale is a woody fragrance with a dark, smoky character, softened by sweetness, flowers and amber, and edged with leather and citrus. It was released in 2020 and is worn by anyone.

Pink grapefruit and bergamot open it brightly, but pepper and leather quickly give the opening a dry, rugged edge. The heart is dense and complex: agarwood (oud) brings a dark, resinous wood, rose and jasmine a rich floral note, black tea a dry, slightly smoky astringency, and smoke an outright campfire touch. The base is warm and enveloping, with tobacco, incense and vanilla giving a sweet, smoky, ambery depth.

This is a strong-willed, evening fragrance best suited to autumn and winter, for nights out, special occasions and cold weather. It will appeal to anyone who enjoys oud in its darker, smokier form and likes a scent with plenty of layers, depth and presence.
