Fiery Amber is a saffron-led woody amber from the Italian house CoSTUME NATIONAL, composed by Jean-Christophe Hérault and released in 2025. Woody is the word everyone uses for it; about a third also find it spicy, gourmand, resinous or ambery.
Saffron is the only top note, and it sets the tone: warm, dry, slightly leathery and faintly medicinal, with a touch of honeyed sweetness. The heart pairs cedar, dry and pencil-like, with patchouli, earthy and dark, and vanilla, which adds a creamy sweetness that softens the woods. The base is warm and radiant: Haitian vetiver brings a smoky, rooty depth, labdanum a rich, resinous, leathery amber, and ambroxan a dry, mineral glow that carries the scent and keeps it going for hours.
Fiery Amber is worn by anyone. Its warm, spiced character suits autumn and winter and evenings, and it should appeal to someone who likes saffron and amber together in a dry, woody form rather than a sweet one.
