Nuit de Cellophane from Serge Lutens, released in 2009 and worn by anyone, is a sweet, fruity floral built around osmanthus. Flowers come first for everyone, most wearers also find it sweet, and a minority notice woody, musky or citrus facets.
The notes are given as a single blend. Osmanthus is the key: a small flower that smells of apricot and tea, and it is surrounded here by jasmine, lily and carnation for a fuller bouquet. Mandarin and other fruity notes brighten it, honey and almond add a smooth, slightly marzipan sweetness, and green notes keep the opening from becoming syrupy. Soft woods and musk hold it all close to the skin as it settles.
Most people report moderate longevity, with a quarter finding it long lasting, and sillage is moderate to intimate. It is voted for spring and summer and mostly for daytime, suggesting a gentle, apricot-toned floral for mild weather.
