Momona

Spice leads the way in Momona, a 2022 creation by Christian Carbonnel for the Swiss house Parfums d'Elmar. It is warm, sweet and generous, with a gourmand side close behind the spices and a lighter floral and citrus thread running through. Anyone can wear it.

The opening layers ginger, cardamom, pepper, saffron and cinnamon over orange and mandarin, so it feels like a bright, zesty spice cabinet. Passionfruit adds a tropical, slightly tangy juiciness. In the heart, jasmine, orange blossom and lotus bring a soft floral glow, with a hint of tea for dryness. The base is where the sweetness builds: caramel, white chocolate, almond, vanilla and tonka bean give a rich, dessert-like warmth, while sandalwood, guaiac wood and benzoin add smooth, smoky, resinous depth.
