Pachuli Kozha

Pachuli Kozha, created by Jorge Lee for Nishane in 2015, is a floral leather with a bitter herbal opening. Everyone who describes it calls it floral, and about half also find it spicy, sweet, woody, amber-like or leathery, which gives a fair idea of how many directions it pulls in at once.

It opens with ylang-ylang and hyacinth, a creamy, green floral pairing, sharpened by artemisia and chamomile, which bring a dry, bitter, hay-like quality. The heart turns to black pepper and patchouli: warm spice over damp, earthy leaves. In the base, honey adds a thick, slightly animalic sweetness, leather brings a smoky, hide-like depth, and incense lends a dry resinous haze that ties the whole thing together.

Pachuli Kozha is worn by anyone. It is an evening and cool-weather fragrance by character, dense and a little unconventional, and it suits people who already like patchouli and leather and want them dressed with flowers and honey rather than played straight.
