Hacivat Oud by Nishane, released in 2023 and composed by Dominique Ropion, sets pineapple against oud and incense. Woody is the word everyone uses; more than half also call it spicy, a sizeable group gourmand, and smaller groups floral, resinous or citrusy.
Pineapple and citruses open it with a bright, juicy sweetness that is quickly roughened by black pepper and pink pepper. Jasmine adds a thin floral thread through the middle, but the heart belongs to oud, which here reads as dark, slightly medicinal wood rather than animalic. Frankincense adds a dry, smoky, resinous lift, and the base of Haitian vetiver and patchouli is earthy and rooty, with a touch of vanilla to round off the edges.
It is a shared fragrance, worn by anyone. The weight of oud, incense and pepper suggests cooler weather and evenings, and it is better suited to people who already like woody, smoky scents than to those looking for a fresh pineapple opening alone.
