Ambra Calabria is a green amber from the Turkish house Nishane, composed by Jorge Lee and released in 2015 for anyone to wear. Everyone who describes it calls it green, and about half also find it spicy, sweet, floral, ambery and citrusy.
It opens with bergamot, galbanum and green leaves, a sharp, sappy, slightly bitter freshness that is the clearest statement of the green character. The heart pairs coriander, a warm and faintly peppery spice, with jasmine for a soft floral sweetness. The base of amber, vanilla and musk is where the warmth arrives: resinous, gently sweet and skin-like, so the scent ends somewhere much cosier than it began.
Wearers split almost evenly between long lasting and moderate longevity. Projection is reported as moderate by most people, with a fifth calling it intimate. It is voted mainly for spring and summer, and clearly for daytime, which makes it a warm-weather amber lightened by green notes, for someone who wants amber without heaviness.
