Sensual Instinct from Montale, released in 2019, is a coffee and praline gourmand with an unexpectedly mossy base. Everyone describes it as gourmand, and about half also find it green, woody, floral or ambery, which reflects how different the top and the drydown are.
It opens with roasted coffee beans alone, dark and bitter. The heart sweetens it with praline, nutty and caramelised, and adds rose for a floral lift so it is not just dessert. The base is where the green and woody votes come from: oakmoss gives a dry, shaded, slightly earthy quality, cedar adds a clean wood, and amber warms it, so the sweetness is anchored rather than floating.
It is worn by anyone. People report it as long lasting or eternal in roughly equal numbers, and the sillage is strong for about half.
