Day Dreams by Montale, released in 2017, is a tropical white floral worn by anyone. Everyone describes it as floral, half also as sweet, and a minority as woody and citrus. It is one of the house's sunnier scents, with coconut and vanilla under orange blossom and tiare.
Orange blossom and mandarin orange open it, so the first stage is bright, slightly honeyed and citrusy. The heart is neroli, jasmine and tiare flower, where the white flowers become creamy and holiday-like, with the neroli keeping a fresh, bitter-orange edge. The base is vanilla and coconut over sandalwood, which gives the drydown a soft, suntan-lotion sweetness and a smooth woody warmth.
As is typical for the house, it lasts: most wearers report it as long lasting or eternal, and projection is split evenly between strong and moderate. Summer and spring lead the season votes, and it is chosen mainly for daytime. It suits hot weather, holidays and anyone who wants a creamy tropical floral with far more staying power than most of its kind.
