La Fille de l'Air

La Fille de l'Air, released by Courrèges in 2015 and composed by Fabrice Pellegrin, is a fresh, airy floral marketed for women. Floral is how everyone describes it, most also call it fresh, and a third notice green, woody, musky or citrus sides.

Petitgrain and Calabrian bergamot open it, the bergamot bright and slightly bitter, the petitgrain green and woody like crushed orange leaves. The heart is built on orange blossom and neroli, two faces of the same flower, one sweet and honeyed, the other cooler and soapier, with jasmine adding a fuller floral warmth. An ozonic note and cascalone give the middle its distinctive feel: cool, watery and airy, as if the flowers were caught in a breeze. The base is deliberately modern, with neoprene adding a clean, slightly rubbery, synthetic dryness, Atlas cedar a pencil-like wood, and musk a soft, skin-like finish.

It suits spring and summer daytime wear, for women who like orange blossom kept light, cool and a little futuristic rather than warm and sweet.
