Quatre Iconic by Boucheron, released in 2022, is a spicy, woody amber for women in which about half of wearers also find gourmand, floral and citrus sides. It is a warm, dense scent rather than a light one.
Ginger and pink pepper give the opening a lively, peppery heat, with mandarin orange adding a brief burst of juice. The heart is where it becomes rich: blackcurrant brings a tart, slightly green fruitiness, Peru balsam a sweet, vanilla-like resin, and tuberose a creamy white-floral fullness. The base of patchouli, amber and vetiver is earthy and warm, with vetiver adding a dry, smoky edge that stops the amber from becoming too sweet.
Longevity is a strong point: most people report it as long lasting and about a quarter say it lasts almost indefinitely. Sillage is moderate for many and strong for a sizeable minority. It is voted overwhelmingly for winter and autumn and slightly more for evenings, which suits cold weather and dinners rather than the office in July.
