Areej Al Oud by Al Haramain Perfumes, released in 2021, is a woody rose. Everyone who describes it calls it woody, about two thirds find it floral, and a third add spice and musk. It is worn by anyone.
Saffron opens it with a warm, slightly metallic, leathery spice, and geranium adds a sharp, green, rosy edge. Rose forms the heart, full and sweet against the spice. The base is layered wood: sandalwood for cream, guaiac wood for a smoky, slightly tar-like depth, cypriol for a dry, earthy, oud-like woodiness, patchouli for earth, and musk to soften the finish.
The saffron-rose-wood structure points to cooler months and evenings, and to people who enjoy the classic Middle Eastern pairing of rose and smoky wood. It is a direct, traditional composition rather than a modern twist.
