Era

Era from the British house Memoize London, released in 2018, is a saffron-tinged floral with oud, leather and resin. Floral is the word everyone uses for it; about a third also find it spicy, woody, resinous, ambery or leathery.

Saffron opens it with a warm, dry, slightly leathery and faintly medicinal spice. The heart is a trio of flowers with different textures: jasmine for warmth and richness, ylang-ylang for a creamy, slightly banana-like headiness, and iris for a cool, suede-like powder. Agarwood brings a dark, smoky woodiness underneath, and leather a smooth, warm depth. Myrrh adds a bitter, balsamic resin, and amber a soft, lasting warmth that ties the flowers and the woods together.

Era is worn by anyone. Its warm, slightly smoky floral character suits autumn and winter and evening wear, and it should appeal to someone who likes white flowers and iris set against oud and leather rather than in a fresh, light form.
