Caritas

Caritas from the British house Memoize London, released in 2019, is a dense, sweet, spiced oriental. People describe it as spicy and gourmand in equal measure; three quarters also find it woody, and about half green, floral or resinous.

Lemon and red fruits give the opening a bright, slightly tart start, and cloves, cinnamon and cardamom follow with a warm, rich spice. Saffron adds a dry, leathery edge. The heart is a soft mix of rose, ylang-ylang and milk, with sweet notes and candies pushing it towards confectionery. Agarwood and leather bring a dark, smoky, animalic depth that balances the sugar, and oakmoss and moss a damp, green bitterness. Sandalwood, patchouli, labdanum and benzoin give a warm, resinous woody base, and vanilla, tonka bean, amber and musk a creamy, lasting sweetness.
