Osmanthus, from Ormonde Jayne in 2006, was composed by Geza Schoen. Wearers describe it as woody and floral in equal measure, with about half also finding it spicy, musky, fresh and ambery.
The opening pairs pomelo with artemisia and pimento, a bitter, green citrus with a herbal snap and a touch of warm spice. The heart is osmanthus, a small flower that smells of apricot and tea with a faint suede-like edge, set beside water lily for a cool, watery freshness and jasmine sambac for richness. The base of French labdanum, vetiver, cedar and musk is warm, dry and slightly resinous, giving the flower a woody footing rather than a sweet one.
Most people find the longevity moderate and the projection moderate, with only a minority calling it close to the skin. It is voted for summer and spring and mostly for daytime. Worn by anyone, it suits warm days and people who like fruity florals in a dry, understated register.
