Desired Earth from the French house The Harmonist, composed by Guillaume Flavigny in 2020, is a dense, resinous woody amber. People describe it as woody, resinous and warm with amber in equal measure, with about half also finding it sweet and floral.
Juniper opens it cool, dry and gin-like, with elemi and elemi resin adding a lemony, resinous sparkle. Iris brings a cool, powdery, slightly earthy floral touch to the heart, and immortelle a sweet, hay-like, almost maple-syrup warmth. The base is where it gets its weight: red cedar for dry wood, cade oil for a smoky, tarry depth, vetiver for earth, and tolu balsam, myrrh and vanilla for a warm, sweet, balsamic resin.
It is worn by anyone and is firmly a cold-weather evening scent, for someone who likes smoke, resin and immortelle in a composition that stays close to the ground.
