Coffee opens it, dark, roasted and slightly bitter, giving the scent its distinctive character. Jasmine sits in the heart, smooth and a little heady, softening the bitterness with a floral sweetness. The base is warm and rich: tonka bean gives an almondy, hay-like sweetness, labdanum a honeyed, leathery resin, ambergris a salty, mineral warmth, and musk a soft, skin-like finish that holds everything close.
It suits autumn and winter and evening wear. Anyone who likes coffee scents with resinous depth rather than sugary sweetness should find it rewarding, especially for late evenings, as the name suggests.
