Amber & Rosewood from the Spanish house Maison Label, composed by Angela Ciampagna and released in 2020, is a warm woody fragrance with a bright citrus start. Woody is the word everyone uses for it; about half also find it citrusy, and a quarter pick up spicy, gourmand, resinous or ambery facets.
Bergamot and lemon open it with a clean, slightly bitter sparkle, and nutmeg adds a warm, dry spice. Palisander rosewood is the heart, a smooth, slightly floral, faintly spicy wood, and cedar beside it brings a drier, pencil-like woodiness. Agarwood adds a dark, smoky depth in small measure. The base is soft and warm: sandalwood for creaminess, benzoin for a vanilla-tinged resin, vanilla for gentle sweetness, and amber for a lasting, enveloping glow.
Amber & Rosewood is worn by anyone. Its balance of fresh citrus and warm woods suits autumn and spring and works from day into evening, and it should appeal to someone who wants a woody amber that stays smooth and approachable.
