Costume National I

Costume National I by CoSTUME NATIONAL, composed by Julien Rasquinet in 2019 and worn by anyone, is an aromatic amber leather that people describe in six equal ways: woody, floral, resinous, aromatic, amber-like and citrusy. That breadth is the point of it.

Bergamot opens it with a clean citrus brightness, and thyme and lavender add a dry, herbal, slightly medicinal freshness that gives the top its aromatic character. Geranium brings a rosy, green floral note in the middle, and saffron a dry, leathery spice. The base is where the warmth gathers: labdanum for a dark, resinous amber, leather for a smooth, smoky depth, cedar for a dry wood and ambroxan for a clean, radiant, slightly salty glow that carries everything.
