Carmen is a sweet, woody scent with musky, resinous and ambery warmth, released by the Romanian house Calaj in 2021 and composed by Camille Chemardin and Anne-Sophie Behaghel. It is worn by anyone.

Bergamot and pink pepper open it with a bright, lightly spiced citrus. Incense runs through the heart, dry and resinous, with labdanum adding a rich, honeyed, leathery amber. The base is sweet and woody: vanilla and tonka bean give a smooth, almondy sweetness, sandalwood and woody notes a creamy, dry structure, and musk a soft, skin-like finish.

It suits autumn and winter and evening wear. Anyone who likes sweet, resinous woods with incense and vanilla should find it a comfortable, warm choice, closer to a cosy amber than a smoky church scent.
