The notes are a short list: labdanum, leather and a general spice accord. Spices give the opening its heat, dry and warm rather than sweet, with no single spice named so the impression is of a blend. Leather is the body of the scent, smooth and slightly smoky, closer to a polished saddle than to raw hide. Labdanum, a dark, sticky resin from the rock rose, wraps the leather in an ambery, faintly honeyed warmth and carries the finish, which is the longest-lasting and most enveloping part.
