The notes are given as a short list. Jasmine and jasmine sambac are the centre, the sambac variety being greener, more tea-like and slightly spicy compared with the lush, sweet jasmine beside it. Incense adds a dry, smoky, church-like resin that lifts the flowers out of the garden and into something more contemplative. Patchouli supplies the base, earthy and dark, giving the jasmine a grounded, almost woody depth that lasts on skin. The combination of white flower, smoke and earth suggests cooler months and evening wear, and a wearer who likes florals with a serious, incense-led edge rather than a fresh one.
