Act 5

Act 5 is the green chapter of the minimal series from the Dutch house Pantomime, composed by Fredrik Dalman and released in 2023. People describe it as green and woody in equal measure, which is exactly what its two notes would promise.

Galbanum is one of the sharpest green materials in perfumery: bitter, sappy and resinous, like snapped stems and crushed leaves, with a slightly peppery, almost metallic edge. Vetiver is its partner, a root that smells of damp earth, dry grass and a faint smokiness. Together they create a scent that is austere and natural, the greenness of the galbanum softening over time into the earthy, woody calm of the vetiver, so it moves from a cut-stem freshness to something drier and quieter without ever becoming sweet.

Act 5 is worn by anyone. Its crisp, earthy character suits spring and autumn and daytime wear, and it should appeal to someone who likes green scents and vetiver and prefers them unadorned.
