Aoud Lime is a dense oud-and-rose fragrance that Pierre Montale created for Montale in 2005. Everyone describes it as woody, most also as floral, and a third pick out spice and amber.
Agarwood, or oud, sets the tone: dark, resinous and slightly medicinal, it gives the scent a heavy, smoky woodiness. Rose is its traditional partner and here provides a rich, slightly jammy floral sweetness that softens the oud. Saffron adds a leathery, warm spice, and iris brings a cool, powdery contrast that lightens the blend. Patchouli and sandalwood thicken the wood base, the former earthy, the latter creamy, while amber adds a warm, resinous glow to the finish.
Shared between men and women, it is a fragrance for people who already enjoy oud and want it in a classic rose-and-saffron setting. Its weight and warmth make it better suited to cool weather and evenings than to summer heat.
