Ed Hardy Villain for Men by Christian Audigier is a spicy, woody and aromatic fragrance in equal measure, with smaller touches of musk, amber and citrus. Adriana Medina-Baez composed it, and it was released in 2011 as a masculine scent.

Bergamot gives a short, fresh opening before the spices come forward: pepper, nutmeg and cardamom bring a warm, dry, slightly sweet heat. Lavender, sage and basil form the aromatic heart, herbal and clean, giving it a classic barbershop feel. The base settles into cedar, including Virginia cedar, for a dry, pencil-like wood, with sandalwood adding creaminess and amber and musk a warm, smooth finish.

Warm but still fresh, it suits autumn and winter evenings and nights out, while the herbs keep it wearable on cool spring days too. It will appeal to someone who likes spicy, herbal masculine scents with a confident, slightly rugged character, and who wants a reliable fragrance for going out rather than for the office.
