It opens on fruit and spice together: apple and apricot bring a crisp and then a soft, honeyed sweetness, while ginger and cardamom add a warm, slightly sharp heat. The base is where the weight is: amber and vanilla for a thick, warm sweetness, frankincense for a dry, resinous smoke, and leather for a supple richness, all set against dry, earthy woods that keep it from collapsing into syrup.
