Boccanera is a dark, spicy chocolate scent from Orto Parisi, composed by Alessandro Gualtieri and released in 2014 for anyone to wear. Everyone who describes it calls it spicy and sweet, most find it woody, and a third notice musk, flowers and leather.
It opens with chilli pepper, black pepper and ginger over cacao pod, so the heat and the bitter cocoa arrive together. The heart is jasmine alone, a rich floral note that softens the spice without turning it pretty. The base is where the sweetness and the darkness meet: chocolate, sugar and vanilla for a dense gourmand warmth, patchouli and cedar for earth and dry wood, leather for a smooth, dusky edge, and animal notes with musk for a warm, slightly feral finish.
