Boucheron's own Boucheron, created in 1988 by Francis Deleamont and Jean-Pierre Bethouart, is a grand floral in the classic style, with a bright citrus top and a sweet, mossy base. Everyone describes it as floral, most add citrus, and a sizeable minority find it sweet, woody or amber-like.

The opening is a basket of citrus: lemon, bergamot, tangerine and bitter orange, with apricot for softness and basil for a green, herbal edge. The heart is dense and rich, built on tuberose, jasmine, orange blossom and ylang-ylang, with orris root adding a cool, powdery quality and narcissus a slightly green, hay-like depth. The base brings the warmth: tonka bean, vanilla and benzoin for sweetness, oakmoss and sandalwood for a dry, earthy finish, and a trace of civet for an animalic hum.

Most wearers report long lasting power and a strong trail, so it is one to apply sparingly. It is voted mostly for autumn and winter and leans slightly towards evening, which suits its formal, dressed-up character.
