Ambre Delicieuse, a 2017 release from the Italian house ArteOlfatto, is first and foremost a spicy fragrance. Around the spices sit sweet, woody, floral, ambery and citrus facets in roughly equal measure, and it is worn by anyone.

Citrus notes give a bright, brief opening, quickly warmed by spices that bring a cinnamon-like heat and dry, aromatic depth. Rose then emerges, adding a soft, velvety floral heart that sweetens the spice without becoming girly. The base is warm and rich: amber gives a golden, resinous glow, vanilla a comforting sweetness and patchouli an earthy, slightly chocolatey woodiness that anchors everything.

As the name suggests, it is an amber built for pleasure, warm and enveloping rather than sharp. Its spiced sweetness naturally fits autumn and winter, cosy evenings and festive moments. It suits those who love classic oriental-style scents with rose and spice, and who want something enveloping to wear close to the skin on cold days.
