Bataille

Bataille comes from the French house Bastille Parfums, composed by Nicolas Beaulieu and released in 2020. People describe it as spicy and woody in equal measure, with about a third also finding it gourmand, floral, aromatic or ambery, which suggests a layered scent rather than a single idea.

The spice comes from ginger, pink pepper and saffron, which together give a warm, slightly peppery and leathery opening. Sage adds a herbal, aromatic freshness that cuts through the heat, and magnolia contributes a clean, lemony floral tone. Beneath this sit cedar and Virginia cedar for dry, pencil-shaving woodiness, patchouli for earthiness, and tonka bean for a sweet, almond-like roundness. Amber Xtreme, a powerful synthetic amber material, gives the base projection and a radiant, slightly mineral warmth.
