Menestrello

Menestrello is a sweet, resinous woody scent from the Italian house V Canto, released in 2024, composed by Paolo Terenzi and worn by anyone. Gourmand is how everyone describes it, most also find it woody and musky, and about half notice resin, with greenness and amber mentioned by a quarter.

Black currant, cranberry and currant leaf open it, tart, red and slightly green, with lavender adding a clean, herbal lift so the start is sharp rather than sweet. The sweetness arrives in the heart: maple and red maple bring a syrupy, caramelised, slightly smoky sugar that is the signature of the scent, and benzoin and elemi add a soft, vanilla-like resin and a brighter, lemony one. The base is woody and musky, with Cambodian oud for a dark, resinous depth, cedar and cypriol for dry and smoky woods, patchouli for earth, and ambrette, musk and ambergris for a soft, slightly salty, skin-like finish.

It is a scent for cooler weather and evenings, worn by anyone who likes maple sweetness with oud, resins and musk underneath.
