Elegance Cuiree

Elegance Cuiree is a woody amber with a leather thread, made by the French house Plume Impression, composed by Jordi Fernández and released in 2019. Woody is the near-universal description; about two thirds also find it ambery, and a third mention resin, leather or citrus.

Bergamot and juniper berries open it with a crisp, slightly gin-like brightness that soon gives way to frankincense, which brings a dry, smoky, church-like resinous quality. Leather sits at the centre, smooth rather than tarry, and guaiac wood adds a warm, faintly smoky and honeyed woodiness around it. Patchouli and vetiver give the base an earthy, rooty depth, and amber wraps it all in a soft, lasting warmth.

It is worn by anyone. The combination of incense, leather and amber points to autumn and winter and to evenings, and it suits a wearer who likes polished, slightly formal scents with a quiet smoky edge.
