Instictive Marine

Instictive Marine is a fresh, salty aquatic from the Spanish house Angel Schlesser, released in 2020, composed by Amandine Clerc-Marie and worn by anyone. Fresh is how everyone describes it, and about half also find it sweet or aromatic, which fits a short formula built on sea notes, lavender and tonka bean.

Sea water and sea notes open it and run through the whole scent: cool, salty, slightly ozonic and clean, like air off the water rather than the water itself. Lavender sits alongside them with a herbal, soapy, slightly camphorous freshness that gives the scent its aromatic, barbershop edge and keeps the marine notes from feeling thin. Tonka bean is the only warm element, and it arrives as the salt and lavender settle, adding a soft, almond-and-hay sweetness that is where the gourmand impression comes from and that rounds the finish into something gentle and slightly cosy.
