Zafferano

Zafferano from the Italian house Profumo di Firenze, released in 2018, is a saffron-led woody rose. Woody is the word everyone uses for it; about half also find it musky or floral, and a quarter spicy, gourmand or ambery.

Saffron sets the tone from the start, warm, dry, slightly leathery and faintly medicinal, with a touch of honeyed sweetness. Turkish rose and rose form the heart, full and slightly jammy, and they sit naturally against agarwood, which brings a dark, smoky woodiness, and cypriol, which adds an earthy, leathery smokiness. Cedar and sandalwood give the base dry and creamy woods, patchouli an earthy depth, vanilla a gentle sweetness, and white musk, musk and amber a soft, warm, long-lasting finish.

Zafferano is worn by anyone. Its warm, spiced character suits autumn and winter and evening wear, and it should appeal to someone who likes the saffron-rose-oud combination in a smooth, musky form rather than a harsh or heavily animalic one.
