Wild Candy is a sweet, chocolate-tinged floral from Mancera, composed by Pierre Montale and released in 2015 for anyone to wear. Gourmand is the accord everyone names; most also find it floral, about half call it woody, musky or citrusy, and a minority fresh.
Bergamot and lemon open it with a clean citrus brightness, joined by a general fruity sweetness that sets up the gourmand side. The heart pairs Turkish rose with frangipani, the rose warm and slightly jammy, the frangipani creamy and tropical, and a pinch of salt adds an unexpected savoury edge that keeps the sweetness interesting. Dark chocolate comes through as it develops, bitter rather than milky, and the base of vanilla, sandalwood and guaiac wood gives a smooth, slightly smoky sweetness, with white musk softening the finish.
It is a cool-weather scent for evenings, playful and sweet, and it suits anyone who likes rose and chocolate together without the result becoming heavy. The salt and citrus keep it lighter than the name suggests.
