Dark Aoud is a sweet, spiced oud from Maison Alhambra, released in 2024 and worn by anyone. Everyone who describes it calls it woody, under half add spicy and gourmand, and a minority amber.
Cardamom and pepper open it, the cardamom cool and aromatic, the pepper dry and sharp. Oud is the centre, here reading as dark and woody with a slightly smoky edge, and Brazilian rosewood adds a soft, faintly floral woodiness beside it. Vetiver brings earthy dryness. The base is sweeter than the name suggests: vanilla and tonka bean give a creamy, hay-like warmth, sandalwood smooths it, and ambergris adds a salty, lingering glow.
