Bergamot is the only opening note, a brief, bright citrus flash before the spices arrive. The heart is where the character is: star anise brings a liquorice-like sweetness, Sichuan pepper a tingling, slightly numbing heat, nutmeg a warm, dusty spice, and lavender a clean aromatic thread that ties them together. The base is vanilla and ambroxan, so the spice settles onto a smooth, sweet, faintly salty warmth that lasts.
