Mambo for Men is a woody floral with a bright citrus opening and a spicy heart. Liz Claiborne released it in 2001, and the perfumer is Carlos Benaïm.
It begins fresh and herbal: lavender, lime, lemon verbena and bergamot together give a clean, zesty start. The heart is unusually full for a masculine scent, with rose, lily of the valley, geranium and orange blossom bringing a soft floral tone, while cinnamon and caraway add warmth and a touch of the kitchen cupboard, and cedar keeps the structure dry. The base is patchouli, sandalwood, musk and balsam fir, which settles into a warm, slightly resinous wood.
It is marketed for men, though the floral middle gives it a softer character than many in that category. There are no community reports yet on longevity, sillage or preferred seasons; the combination of citrus and warm spice reads as an easy everyday wear across most of the year.
